Not a bad choice, the books are very big on political intrigue and backstab, which browser can do just as well. Really depending on the type of game they want to develop, I can see something like "Utopia" can work, I played that browser text based game for years.

EQ changed a lot over the years, so just take your time and enjoy the ride. Hopefully the F2P will inject some lower level populations into the game as well.

Most of old world zones stayed more or less the same through out the years with a few exception. There are some exceptions, I really hate the new freeport for one example.

The main problem with old world EQ is that there just isn't anybody around anymore.

I been visiting eqlive forum fairly often since the announcement about EQ going f2p and looks like it at least prod fair number of people coming back or starting the game. The newbie section new posting count went from 1 to 2 a day to about 15 for today. I dearly hope this f2p thing works out and br...

Wade pass pages of useless crap about RAF people talking back and forth on the eqlive forum and finally got bits of information your guys would be interested in. The Anniversary subscriptions would be grandfathered in, so you will still pay the same and most likely get SC to pay for the expansions. ...

I don't think you can roll over from the same plan, the new pricing plan is not that bad. Now looking back, they probably decided to go for f2p a while back but just waiting to see the numbers in EQ2 to see if it works out. They cancelled two year subscription plan a while back, which is a good indi...

There will be multi month subscription that is cheaper than 14.95, how much they have not said yet. Also you get 500 station cash per month, which pretty much means free expansions. So overall, this probably works out to be about the same or slightly more expensive compare to if you are on the anniv...

Most of restriction isn't that bad but the item one is big, you can not wear prestige items unless you are on a gold membership which is subscription. Prestige item is SoD and above drops, plus whatever they decided to mark. So you can pretty much forget using free to play toons to do anything meani...

This likely goes exactly same as the EQ2, which isn't bad for subscriber I think. Subscriber are guaranteed money, so I don't see them letting you go that easily, Thor. Increase in number of stuffs in market will logically follow as well. I do see this is the only real way to get some fresh new bloo...

Original is great, Kunark is so so for me, Velious is great as well. The game really started to change from Luclin onwards, PoP was a major game changer with raids being so centric to the expansion.

Reloaded Project 1999, here's hoping it scratches my itch for old school EQ. The new EQ scares me with all it's hundreds of zones, AAs and multitude of quests :P The game really isn't as daunting as it was released, it is much easier to play. One example is the original game got no map, which is th...

The funny thing about progression is that you can mostly ignore them with a few exception that are useful like tier 5 mercenary. The super mudflation thing they are going means every time the new expansion out just about every progression before that becomes useless. So you really don't need work th...

Number of expansion really is not relevant at this stage of EQ life, you just buy the latest and it comes with everything. It does offer decent amount of options at each level range for you to play with it. There is not a single set of route everybody had to follow to level up. One most important th...

If you are that desperate to play EQ, just go on fippy server, it is not original EQ, but close enough and you don't have to deal with a lot of issues that all the emulated ones gives. The mac server probably has the exact same issue if not worse relating to low level population as the normal servers.

To be honest PoP was a major cluster fuck relating the flagging at begining before they add the 85/15 rule. This is particularly true if your guild got a lot of casuals and will be forced to run same event over and over again.

EQ still is a great game, just that if you are looking for that 100 person train wreck fun days of orc hill, you won't find it anymore. Only real way of salvaging the game is by going F2P, the game is just slowly dying without a healthy influx of new blood.
