I am not sure if anyone has said this but I must say that the relief efforts of Hurricane Katrina has made me ashamed of calling myself an American (of course there has been MANY times that I have come close to saying that).

Dont get me wrong I love my country and serve it proudly through the good and the dumb things that this country has done. To be honest, no one in the upper government gave a fuk about those people (>>>>>>>> PRES BUSH). I am just glad that it was a low death toll than what they were expecting. I saw that it was estimated to be 10s of thousands that may have died but the count is just over 1000 (still sad). A couple of weekends ago, CNN was doing a 48+ hour campaign to re-unite over 800 straded children who were some how separated from their families. The new story now is that the New Orleans Police were looting and I just found out about the rapes that were happening in the Louisana Superdome.

I have friends and family in Texas and they told me about Hurricane Rita. They told me that over 1.4 million people in and around Houston, TX were evacuated. Now Houston is a 2 hour drive from San Antonio, TX and it took folks over 12hours (with inbound I10E closed down and leading from Houston) to get to San Antonio. That is 6 lanes of traffic and the reason why it took so long, people ran out of gas in the middle of the highway.

I usually do not talk about religion, politics or anything controvertial.
But I looked that the link in this post and just saw RED. Sorry for the rambling folks.

That said I think that high ranking officials are only as good as their informants. it should have been brought to the corect persons attention a lot earlier than it was.

What really annoys me is the wasting of resources for photo shoots to try and make the president etc look better. fuck looking good. get something DONE.

New Orleans .. well bush reaction to that was just too slow.

As for Houston, even with 6 lanes of traffic, theres still a lot of cars and one breakdown can stop more than 3 lanes of traffic to a crawl. Most likely the bottlenecks are the exits

Well, considering his second term is up and there's legally no way he could be reelected....sort of doubt it.... :D

If Gol became President...

The phrase "that dress" would gain new meaning again.

At least make sure you wash it eh Gol!
