launch is next week in the US (Ubisoft)

the aisa/pacific publisher (En-Tranz) hasn't announced their release yet - they're still in beta

apparently all publishers (there's a third one covering Europe) will be looking at billing details and IP address to prevent people playing outside their "region". (I think this may contravene Aussie competition laws in the same way DVD/console region coding does, but would be more difficult to circumvent) it's nice that we'll have a local (ish) server, but sucks that we won't be able to play with all the friends we've made in Europe and the US.
Boppin

Who me? Mmm...so....if I understand this correctly....Team Ranger won't be able to play on the same server? If so, that is the final nail in the SB coffin for me.

G

from what i have read and spoken to people in game about, it seems they will allow you to play on any server... but i am not 100% sure about that.

anyways someone can just lvl up a traveller and you can port accross to another server...

and again.. the above point kinda kills there idea of region only servers... who knows.. but i do know you can port between servers in the retail version.
The Flake

"A good friend will come and bail you out of jail, but a true friend
will be sitting next to you saying, "That was f&%king awesome."

theirs a lot of F.U.D. going around about where you can and can't play at the moment

if you can't cross regional boundaries then the Traveller port-between-servers ability will only let you jump around in your own region

i'm thinking the only definite answer will come from buying a copy of the UbiSoft version (that's the US one) and seeing if it'll let us in, despite <a href="http://care.ubi.com/support/ubisoft.cfg ... My understanding on the regional situation is this:

They will use your CC billing address to determine which region ( Asia, US or Europe ) you can belong to. So in the case of team ranger .. you could simply run an account for Aamasie to use and she could pay you back with some kind of favours :P

In Europe they're in a mess because the Euro publisher went bellyup but they didn't have an insolvency clause in their contracts so right now the rights to publish SB in Europe are owned by the insolvency administrators.

The US servers look set to launch on the 25th March, however Asia has announced what is effectively a public final beta ( 100k testers to be admitted ) commencing 24 March.

Personally, I've signed up with en-tranz ( Asia guys ) for beta hoping to score for the public beta so that I get a chance to give it a whirl and know what I'm doing when it goes live.

The gameplay looks like it is way better than a lot of the doom and gloom I've seen and heard over the years although by the looks launch will still be somewhat shaky. Asia is probably being smart by not releasing same time as US since it means the US users get to be the guineapigs.

What appeals ... very quick levelling curve ( lvl 60 is the softcap and by all accounts hitting 50 with 4 days played is easy ) so levelling is out of the way fast and from then on you can concentrate on pvp .. plus will be easy to run 2 or 3 toons of different classes since it's so easy to level them and you can pull whatever you need/want to play out of the cupboard on the night.

Bring on Silkenshaft .. Mage Assassin.
Silkenshammie Flakes
Phatarse

Sset, go read the beta forums .. warlock is not a popular class atm, feeling is they've been balanced to under-strength of late

Silkenshammie Flakes
Phatarse

What was KAOS's name in sb. I asked around about CN n shit and no ones even heard of em. The big boys of the server seems to be r30's or (cant remember what they were called before that). COS and DHL were pretty big too
The Flake

"A good friend will come and bail you out of jail, but a true friend
will be sitting next to you saying, "That was f&%king awesome."

KAAOS is a guild. More well know than CN since they are a lot older and probably bigger.

They were apparantly pretty big on RZ at one point and were huge on SZ (I was in KAAOS on SZ).

Kimera is the only KAAOS I remember that played on TZ. They didn't go there as a guild so it was just a few people who were bored of RZ.

Last I knew (which is like 18 months ago so probably isnt true anymore) Covetous Crew, KAAOS and CN were joining forces for SB.

www.kaaos.com
<img src="http://www.metal.net.au/sakkath/headban ... www.metal.net.au<img src="http://www.metal.net.au/sakkath/headban ...
